Life Protecting Equipment

The 100 Club provides life-protecting equipment and services for first responder agencies in our five-county area. The following criteria applies to all equipment and service requests:

  1. All requests will come from the chief, elected official of the municipality or county, or the director of the agency making the request.
  2. This statement will be in the letter of request:
    "I warrant that I have exhausted every other source of funding for the requested equipment, which includes any confiscated drug funds. I am including a copy of the minutes from our (City Council, Commissioners Court, or any government agency minutes/ response) where this request has been made and denied."
  3. A detailed and itemized list of items requested will be submitted, including the total cost for the purchase.
  4. For each type of item requested, there should be at least two written bid responses attached to the letter.
  5. Bids must only be from vendors who meet the specifications of the requesting agency.
  6. If two or more bids are competitive, a recommendation from the requesting agency is encouraged.
  7. All equipment given to law enforcement agencies, such as vests, radios, etc., will be the property of the agency receiving the equipment and is not to be owned by any individual.
  8. All equipment requested is to be used solely for the protection of first responders.
  9. The equipment is not to be sold by the receiving agency without consultation and approval of the 100 Club of Central Texas.
  10. The 100 Club does not fund spare parts or maintenance contracts.
  11. The request should include the name of a senior decision maker (when not the chief elected official) to act as a liaison with the 100 Club for an interview or to represent the agency at the 100 Club committee meetings.
  12. All agencies that are recipients of equipment purchased by the 100 Club will coordinate a presentation of the equipment for news media coverage and place 100 Club bumper decals on all marked agency vehicles. Decals will also be provided for placement on all equipment purchased by the 100 Club for first responder agencies.
  13. The requesting official must agree to execute a "hold harmless agreement" relieving the 100 Club of Central Texas and any of its members, officers, directors, employees, contributors, or donors from any liability related to the use or performance of the items provided.

When the above has been complied with, the 100 Club will consider the request and notify the requesting agency of its action.

If approved, the 100 Club will pay the invoiced amount to the requesting agency upon delivery and acceptance.
